Overdraft Coverage Options
Overdraft coverage can give you peace of mind that your transactions will be paid, regardless of whether sufficient funds are in your account. Overdrawing your account can happen if an error was made in recording account transactions, if you need funds in an emergency or if a deposit wasn’t made to cover a purchase.
As an Arvest Bank checking account customer, you can choose the type of Overdraft Coverage that works best for you. That may include electing to have no Overdraft Coverage on your account at all.
There is a $17.00 fee each time an overdraft is presented for payment, whether paid or not. We will charge you for each item presented to a maximum of 8 regardless of the number of overdraft items presented each day. Arvest offers several options that can assist you in managing your account to reduce the likelihood of having an overdraft on your account.
Standard overdraft limits are available for qualified customers in amounts ranging from $400 to $1000, based on the type of checking account you have. Accounts become eligible for overdraft coverage 30 days after opening and coverage is granted based on account history. If we determine that you are not eligible for overdraft coverage you will be notified by mail with the reason.
Overdraft Coverage Type – Basic or Extended
Once you decide if you want to have overdraft coverage on your account, you can determine what kinds of transactions are eligible for overdraft coverage. Arvest offers Basic Overdraft Coverage and Extended Overdraft Coverage. There is no fee to enroll in either type of coverage; a fee only occurs if Arvest Bank pays an overdraft transaction on your behalf. Basic Overdraft Coverage pays these items:
- Checks you write and checks initiated by online BillPay
- ACH electronic payments for bills automatically deducted from your account
- Recurring Debit Card transactions, such as a monthly membership or subscription
Basic Overdraft Coverage does not cover everyday debit card transactions or ATM withdrawals. These transactions would be declined at the point of sale or at the ATM when there are not sufficient funds in your account to complete the transaction.
Extended Overdraft Coverage pays these items:
- All of the items included in Basic Overdraft Coverage
- Everyday debit card purchases
- Cash withdrawals from ATM’s
- One-time online card payments including utilities, online shopping and reservations.
Changing your Overdraft Coverage Type
Unless you have specified otherwise, your account comes with Basic Overdraft Coverage. You can elect to change coverage any time using any of these convenient options:

- Call (866) 952-9523 for personal assistance
- Visit your local Arvest Bank branch location
Requests to move to Basic Coverage will become effective immediately; requests to move to Extended Coverage made over the phone or online will become effective in 2 business days. Requests to remove all overdraft coverage should be made by calling (866) 952-9523 or visiting your local Arvest Bank branch location, and will become effective upon request.
