Arvest Bank announced it has named Chris Evans, who most recently led the bank's mortgage division, as chief financial officer and promoted Jon Mattingly to president and CEO of Arvest Mortgage Division. The appointments reflect Arvest's commitment to leadership development, continuity and long-term growth.
Evans succeeds CFO Karla Payne, who is retiring in early 2027 after more than 40 years with the company. Prior to leading the bank's mortgage division, Evans served as director of finance from 2012 to 2024. Before joining Arvest in 2006, Evans worked in public accounting and held finance leadership roles at a large regional bank.
"We're incredibly grateful for Karla's steady guidance and dedicated service over the years, and we are honored to recognize her remarkable four-decade banking career," said Matt Machen, president and CEO of Arvest Bank. "As Chris steps into this role, he brings over 20 years of deep institutional knowledge with exceptional financial leadership. His ability to strengthen our mortgage division during a challenging market demonstrates the high level of strategic expertise we need in our next CFO."
In his new role, Mattingly will lead operations and growth strategy for Arvest Mortgage Division, which serves customers across Arvest's four-state footprint through mortgage lending for home purchase and refinancing.
Mattingly, who joined Arvest in 2016, has more than 20 years of banking experience. Most recently, he led Arvest's Consumer Lending Division, where outstanding loans have grown beyond $3.5 billion and the division has achieved a compound annual growth rate of more than 12% since 2022.
"Jon is a proven leader who deeply understands the Arvest customer," said Brad Crain, Regional Executive of Enhanced Banking Services at Arvest. "His ability to build high-performing teams makes him the ideal person to drive the long-term growth of our mortgage division while maintaining the exceptional service our communities rely on."
