Inclusive By Design: Our Year-Round Commitment to Autism Acceptance

“It takes a village” is a common phrase that evokes qualities such as care, support, vulnerability, progress and unity. At Arvest, we believe those characteristics build strong communities, especially when they are based on awareness and knowledge. That is why we recognize the importance of Autism Acceptance Month and carry this commitment year-round.

Many of our disability initiatives are led by ArBilities, one of our eight Arvest Associate Impact Groups, which focuses on empowering those with disabilities and driving awareness for greater inclusion. The engagement, driven by dialogues of learning and shared experiences, helps us build a workplace of belonging and improve our customer interactions by equipping Arvest associates with tools and a deeper understanding to meet customer needs.

Arvest also offers an Autism Awareness debit card*, which serves as a natural conversation starter that promotes dialogue, inclusion and support for those with Autism. Customers can order this specialty card by calling (866) 952-9523.

In addition, we’re committed to helping make our spaces and communities more accessible to those with Autism. We strive to include imagery and stories that reflect the full breadth of our neighbors. From our website to our branches, we focus on design that is easy for everyone to navigate. And we use simple words to explain complex ideas, ensuring our guidance is comfortable, familiar and easy to understand.

Another way we’ve come alongside the Autism community is by providing communication boards to some schools in our area. These boards help ensure that every student has a voice and serve as a visual reminder of the beauty and uniqueness of each person.

This month, take advantage of any opportunity to shine a light on Autism Acceptance, including wearing blue, utilizing your Arvest Autism Awareness debit card, attending an autism awareness community event, or simply continuing to educate yourself on the vast spectrum of impact this neurodevelopmental condition has. Together, we can remove barriers and build community growth through understanding.

*Arvest debit cards are a free option for new accounts or replacing an expired card. Checking account required. Minimum deposit required to open checking account. Existing customers will be charged a replacement fee.
